Welcome to Sutter Elementary – 2025–2026 School Year!
August 3, 2025
Dear Sutter Families,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year!
I’m Mr. Michael Fong, proud principal of Sutter Elementary. I’ve had the privilege of serving the Sutter community since 2013. As Sutter’s instructional leader, I’m often asked: What makes Sutter unique?
Sutter is a place where we nurture the whole child. That means we’re committed to helping students grow academically, socially, emotionally, and physically—preparing them to be confident, compassionate, and capable individuals. We believe in providing students with a strong foundation in both academics and life skills to help them reach their fullest potential.
We live this mission by honoring our core values and school vision. For more information, I invite you to review our Sutter Foundational Document.
In addition to teaching core subjects—reading, writing, mathematics, science, art, physical education, and character education—we integrate technology-based activities into instruction in grades 4–5. These experiences include coding, programming, and LEGO robotics, which help students build digital literacy, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Our 5th grade students also engage in project-based learning, promoting critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world application across subjects.
We are proud of our dedicated science lab and thriving community garden, which provide hands-on learning opportunities in both indoor and outdoor environments. This work culminates in our annual Farmers Market, where students showcase their learning, sell produce, and engage with the broader community in a celebration of sustainability and science. We also offer a strong music program for grades 3–5.
Our school also includes special education classes from pre-K to 3rd grade that promote inclusion and support diverse learners in an inclusive environment.
We work closely with our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to enhance the student experience through community events, school improvements, and enrichment opportunities. Their partnership is a vital part of our success.
We encourage families to get involved on campus. Your partnership is essential, and we welcome your time and talents—please consider volunteering in your child’s classroom or supporting school activities.
The first day of school is August 13, 2025. Please be sure to check our updated bell schedule.
We hope you had a restful and joyful summer. The staff and I are excited to welcome you back and look forward to a fantastic year ahead!
Warm regards,
Mr. Michael Fong
